yes, if you are using wordpress in your language – http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_in_Your_Language then it should automatically translated

however, if you want bilingual version you need to use other plugins like WPML plus http://wordpress.org/plugins/events-manager-wpml/

    Great – thanks.

I did things a bit backwards because I wasn’t really sure how to do multilingual sites.

I installed WordPress in the root of the site and that is the English version.

Then I installed the English version of WordPress in a subfolder called FR and that’s the French version.

The site is completely set up now so I’m not going to uninstall and reinstall French WordPress. Clearly looking back this was the wrong way to do this but it’s done now.

My question is – do you know that WPML plugin package I need to buy in order for my EM plugin to translate to French?

    http://wpml.org/purchase/

I wasn’t sure if the basic WPML package is going to work as it seems all blog related but I wasn’t sure. As well if I get WPML and install it on my French site – will it try to translate everything? I have all the French content, menus, blog posts, etc all in French at this point without the WPML help. I just need the Events Manager changed over to French.

    Any thoughts would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    What you can do:
    – Download the French WordPress from http://www.wordpress-fr.net/
    – Copy the folder called languages (in wp-content) to your FR/wp-content
    – Edit FR/wp-config.php, locate define(‘WPLANG’, ”); and make it define(‘WPLANG’, ‘fr_FR’);

From now on, your FR site is in French and so is events manager.

    A note about multilingual …
I think you did the right thing to have 2 different installations for 2 languages (too long a story to tell why here)

The only mistake your made is to install an English version for your French site; now your database is clattered with English strings (all the events manager default settings will be in English and will have to be modified manually)

That worked like a charm…I’m running into one more issue:

    http://www.dufashanye.org/fr/events/annual-general-meeting-2013/

Originally I had the time setting on 24 hour time but the time didn’t change from 6pm to 8pm to 18:00 to 20:00.

So I changed the time setting back to 12 hour time. I checked the time setting in the event and it says 6pm – 8pm.

Now that I have the FR language in place I don’t have the p.m. anymore. It seems to go away. Any ideas?

I would prefer to have 24 hour time, but if I can’t have that then I need to have the p.m. in place on the times.

    Thanks
    Tanya
