Manual Update Help

So I am working through the manual update to 3.7.1 to try to resolve some problems with it(I guess it takes 4mins when you know how to!) it states: these instructions assume your site to be http://example.com/wordpress/. What if my site is a wordpress site but it is http://www.example.co.uk will it work? do I need to change anything?

Please be patient as I am not a techie and I am doing this site as a favour for a group so I am getting quite stuck (it was fine when it was working)
