• I have recently changed my hosting server, before my last server expired I downloaded the entire WordPress websites, all of my content and plugins and themes, I can see all of the photos that I have uploaded so I know that there the content is there.

I have created a new database on the new hosting server and I have matched the database details to in the wp_config.php file. I can access the WordPress dashboard, but unfortunately none of my posts or image are there, and the changes that I have made to the theme are not visible. Have I missed a step? Is the old content gone for good is there some hope?

I hope someone can help because I wouldn’t like to start from scratch. Thanks in advance.

    Jason

  • Did you download a copy of your database on your old hosting account? That’s where all your content is kept and it needs to be imported into your new database.

If you didn’t grab a copy of the old database and you no longer have access to the old account, contact your old hosts. They may have kept database backups. If they don’t, it’s time to start scratching!

Thank you for the speedy response on this – yes I do have a backup of the database as a .sql file, I’m not sure how to upload this on my new server.

phpMyAdmin at cPanel is how I have done database restorations by importing, but I do not know the details for your kind of situation. So, maybe go there and do a backup of whatever is there now and then take a look here:
