I have seen many people with this problem but I have yet to see a resolution. My events manager will not sent email notifications. I have tried every sending method, I’ve disabled ALL other plugins and yet it still refuses to send. Even the ‘test email settings’ button error’s when sending. All other plugins have no problem whatsoever sending mail but this one wont.

did you try to use SMTP as your mail sending method and then use gmail account to rule-out any server issue?

To chime in, we typically get the email notifications from our site, but on some odd cases they haven’t arrived. That may have been resolved in recent updates. In any case, I’m subscribing for updates to this thread to see if there’s anything I can help in by testing.

    Hi,

I am continuing to have serious issues with this plugin. I have added the pro version today and it still will not send mail most of the time. It has worked a few times but it usually doesn’t. I have attached two videos showing my problem. Both show the same result.

    Thank you,

Hi Limeyguy, I think the pro version doesn’t affect the email functionality; it should work well in both. Nice that you support the development work of the EM team by purchasing the pro version, though. We’ve done the same.

You state neither version sends mail “most of the time”. Could you specify a bit? Eg. do some types of emails always get sent while others do not? Are there some similarities with emails that get sent that are different from those that don’t?

For example one issue we encountered earlier with Google Calendar turned out to be related to special characters in the event fields (event name, description, location name) and that it affected only users who were not logged in to Google when clicking the Add to calendar link. This helped in identifying the source of the issue (unfortunately, Google product bug). If you can find information that similarly helps you find a repeatable way to produce the problem, or to avoid it, that helps greatly in locating the cause.

    Hi Adam,

If you’re a Pro customer, please use the dedicated Pro forums where you’ll get faster support:
    http://eventsmanagerpro.com/support/

There’s a also a secure form for sending login info, if we need to take a look at your site. Thanks.

Meantime, it would be worth confirming there’s not a general problem with your mail server. I’m guessing you’ve checked the obvious stuff like spam filters, etc.

If you go to Events > Settings > Emails > Email Settings and run Test Email Settings several times does that work reliably each time?

    Hi,

My mail server is fine. I have many sites setup on it and all of them can send mail with no problems. The site i am having this problem with is capable of sending ‘contact us’ emails. It is only events manager that fails.

The test email button has never worked. It fails every time no matter what the settings are

Does the test button ever work if you use same email address that works (sometimes) when you test the front-end?

Are the “contact us” emails you mentioned sent with a WordPress plugin? If not, which mail system / function does the form / script use?

Do you get other WordPress generated emails (new comments notifications, etc.)?

Daedalon’s suggestion is a good one. Are there any differences between the times it works and the times it doesn’t?

The test button has never worked regardless of the settings.

The contact us form is a plugin that uses wp-mail with no problems.

I don’t have the blog installed so I don’t get any other notifications.

It worked when I got up this morning a couple of times then it just stopped.

It might be useful to mention here that for us the email notifications work, but the test button never has.

Ok, if the contact plugin works using wp-mail then that’s system that should be set under Mail sending method, if it’s not already.

Do you have any other plugins or theme functions running that could be causing a conflict? To test this, try switching to the default WordPress theme and deactivating all other plugins and testing again.

I’ll ask Marcus to add his suggestions to this thread.

Already tried that. Every plugin was disabled and it still wouldn’t send.

Ready to give up here. I launched the site thinking that the ‘from’ address was stopping it from working because the site was still in a dev spot but it still won’t work. Unless someone can come up with some miraculous solution it will likely be refund time.

could it be that the email is on the spam folder in your mail?

    (@limeyguy)

Its not in the junk folder

    Progress!!
Ok, After significant testing I have found the following…

I tested signing up using 4 email addresses…
    1 @hotmail
    1 @gmail
    2x @mydomain.ca (my biz addresses)

ADMIN ‘new user’ notifications are being received for ALL addresses. All good there πŸ™‚

BUT, user notifications are only being received by the @mydomain.ca addresses. User notifications are NOT being received by both the hotmail and gmail accounts. They don’t even go in the junk folders.

So…..the @mydomain.ca addresses are just standard site-based email that is letting the notifications through while the hotmail and gmail accounts are clearly seeing something they don’t like.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help πŸ™‚
    Adam
