I searched far and wide for a plugin to use to build a club membership application form with a paypal interface. None of them had all of the features I wanted, but based on the documentation on the Visual Form Builder web site, VFB sounded like the best compromise for my situation. But this plugin was a total waste of my money. I do not recommend it if you are a developer.

I bought VFB PRO with 6 addons. The only addon I use is the Payments addon that provides the interface to PayPal. The interface is very clunky, and not what you would expect. You can sell a product, but you can’t enter a quantity. You cannot place a “Total” field anywhere on your form. Instead, the total price, and the items you selected, appear in a box that floats above the form. If you need to add a processing fee, or a late fee, or any type of fee that is based on the total price of products (in my case, a club membership subscription) the user has selected – YOU CAN’T!!! There is no way to access to the total price even if you just wanted to print it somewhere on your form, so you can forget about using the total price in any type of calculation!!! Who would create a form plugin and payment interface that doesn’t let you at least print the total price on your form? This wasn’t even something I thought to ask about before purchasing the plugin and addons. I thought it was a no brainer.

The documentation for this plugin and the addons is sparse. There are a couple of advanced topics included, but they are aimed at newbies and do not provide the technical information that a developer would like to know. So, you have to resort to entering a support ticket to ask a question. And you don’t have access to all of the questions other users have asked via the support ticket system – so you can’t search the questions to see if someone else already had the same question. Sure, there is a FAQ list on his support site, but it is also sparse. It basically only covers questions like “How do I change the color of xyz”. Which is totally useless.
And finally, after finding out that I could not print the total price anywhere on my form or use it in a calculation, I asked the developer for advice on how to implement that type of feature myself. This was his response:

“I sorry to hear about your problem and understand that you are frustrated. Unfortunately, Visual Form Builder Pro does not have the feature that you are requesting. Also we do not offer refunds. You can modify the plugin to suit your needs since it’s open source.”

So, since he did not answer my question, I had to ask the question again, and I got this response:

“I am sorry that I cannot make any suggestions for your problem. There are several ppl on the WordPress job board that have customized VFBPro. They might have a simple solution. I am sorry for your issue. “

Not helpful at all. I will never deal with this developer again. What a sham. Don’t waste your time.

What do you mean you do not give refunds. If your product is not fit for purpose you are legally required to refund. This is putting me off trying your product. Please explain how you can ignore your legal obligations.
