• Hello,

    I’m helping a friend move their blog over from wordpress.com to their own host. He is familiar with the wordpress.com procedure for posting Google Videos, so he uses this:

    [googlevideo=http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=7038948309822044992]

    I’ve been trying to find the plugin (assuming that it is publicly available) that wordpress.com uses to allow its users to embed Google videos (and others, I assume) in this manner so that he does not have to learn a new method. Does anyone know what this specific plugin is?

    Thanks so much,
    Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan

    Did you figure this one out ?

    I am in same exact situation, i.e. migrated blog from 2.6.1 to 2.7 and now these embed codes no longer work. They are showing as text rather the video ….

    I’m not aware of a plugin that matches that exactly, but Viper’s Video Quicktags comes close.

    You’ll have to modify the code to get it to work with the plugin’s short code.

    Thanks jdembowski.

    the blogs hosted on wordpress.com are able to do the embed using the googlevideo= syntax like so
    [googlevideo=http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=7038948309822044992]

    Then how come the wordpress self hosted release for 2.7 doesn’t have it ?

    I don’t think I should be required to use a separate plugin to retain existing functionality….

    Anyone ?
