• I have uploaded the standard default wordpress to a new hosted website. I want to upload my existing database file that I have loaded on my computer along with the files. I know how to upload the files via ftp. How can I upload my database through the admin panel? My hosted site does not give me access to phpMyAdmin.

My basic question is what is the best method of uploading my database file to the host if I do not have phpMyAdmin available on the host?

how DO they give you access to MySQL?

Thats what you need to answer.

Theres only so many ways, via a web app like phpmyadmin (some host administration panels have access methods), via the command line during a ssh or telnet session, or remotely.

Once you know that, you have your answer.

And if they dont offer you any access – change hosts. They suck.

I contacted my host (who I will not mention) and upgraded my account to a linux with access to phpMyAdmin. I thought that a wordpress account included access, but it didn’t. Evidently I did not read the fineeeeeeeeeeee print.
