Page Cache Blank Page Issue – Disk IO Related?

I know the issue of blank pages being served out of the cache has come up more than once – seems like it’s still an issue for some and not for others. Could slow disk IO be a potential cause? I am running 3 environments inside our network – each of which is running on its own Linux VM – and I’ve had my suspicions about the storage performance of our infrastructure in the past. Any time disk enhanced is enabled, I encounter the issue (occasional random page coming back blank – emptying the cache clears up the issue for that page, but it then reoccurs). Switching to APC for the page cache (which as I understand it, is completely in-memory) seems to correct the issue. Thoughts?
