I understand that this is a strange request.

I have tried every archive plugin out there and this is the best one. I have a small problem though… I am having a few hundred posts now and that makes the Archive page slow to load.

Would it be possible to use months instead so the user wouldn’t have to load so much?

    Thanks.

    Hey there,

if you have a lot of posts, why not split the archive per year? Just create several archive pages with the following shortcode in the editor:

    [SimpleYearlyArchive type="2012"]
    [SimpleYearlyArchive type="2011"]
    [SimpleYearlyArchive type="2010"]

    etc.

    Thank you for the tip!

Although by the end of this year I will have maybe 1000 posts and its already taking 3-4 seconds loading the page.

Is it possible to do something like [SimpleYearlyArchive type=”2013-01″] or similar?

I am not sure if W3 is cashing the page/plugin, it shouldn’t take that long if it was I think? After all, its just text produced.

Well, it’s text coming from the database which can be the cause for it taking so long to load. Depends on your hosting provider.

Using [SimpleYearlyArchive type="2013-01"] is not possible, sorry.

Maybe if you’re having reaaaaaly lots of posts an archive doesn’t make much sense. Who would search through it anyways? 🙂

I made sub menus with years and used your solution to split it up that way.

As to why I want archives: I run a news-site and some people like to go through old posts in a easy quick way to see what has been published.

Thank you for your time and thanks for the plugin.
