Just wondering what happens to CPTs if the plugin is de-activated? Do they go poof, or are they still visible in Admin and fully functional? Or does something else happen?

My concern is that the plugin may break during a WP upgrade. It would be disastrous if all the pages in a CPT (that was created using the plugin) suddenly disappeared.

If you deactivate the plugin after having used it a bit, then the settings you gave a CPT or taxonomy would still be stored in the database, but they wouldn’t be getting registered and used. Once re-activated, they’d kick in again. Once you start making posts using the settings you register, those get written to the database, and as long as the integrity of the DB remains, you’d just need to use the same settings to re-gain them as available content.

Hopefully that makes sense, feel free to ask some more questions if you need clarity or more information.
