    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

From what I can see, this is not a problem that is caused by WordPress or TablePress (which is why the recent updates did not change anything here).
It looks like your theme is not printing the page’s footer (some HTML code) at the end of the page. If you take a look at the page source in the browser (via “Show Source” in the browser), you will notice that footer, with things like </body></html> is missing. Due to that, TablePress’s JavaScript code is also not loaded.

This is either caused by an erroneous change in the theme (due to which “footer.php” is not loaded any more), or by another plugin that somehow breaks the footer.
To find out more about this (and whether it is the theme or a plugin), please start by temporarily switching to the WordPress default theme TwentyTwelve and check if the sorting/search functions work there, or if the HTML code from the footer is missing as well.

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Hi,

awesome! Good to hear that you found the cause for this! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Best wishes,

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!

I also lost the ability to search and sort after upgrading from wordpress 3.5. However, my footer is still in place and the datatables script is loading. TablePress (and Table Reloaded) have been very reliable up until this point so thank you for any advice.

I an loading jquery 1.8.3 from googleapis. Is that no longer acceptable for TablePress?

Here is a sample page with a table that is no longer sorting or searching: http://www.hikespeak.com/southern-california/

    Hi,

thanks for your question and sorry for the trouble!

On your site, this seems to be caused by a missing script. It might be possible that the minification plugin that you are using is causing this, or that the relevant JS file is not being loaded. In the JavaScript error console, I can see an error that the “bxSlider” function was not found. This unfortunately caused a JS error due to which the rest of the JS on the page (including the TablePress JS functionality) is not executed.

You will need to find out where that bxSlider comes from (either a plugin or your theme), and why it is not being loaded.

About loading jQuery from the Google CDN: For TablePress, this is usually not an issue (as long as the version is not too old), but for other plugins it can be. Also, it should never be done in the admin area of WordPress. Also, WordPress 3.6.1 comes with jQuery 1.10.2, so you are loading an old version. You should either update that or just let WordPress load the included version.

    Tobias

    Hi liu qing,

    thanks for your question.

TablePress tables can not be filled by the visitor of the site. Only you can edit them in the admin area of WordPress. Sorry.

    @rasquache:

Great to hear that you were able to fix the problem! ๐Ÿ™‚ You should still update the jQuery version though.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Dear TobiasBg Member:
Thanks so much for your response. I really like the type of tablepress, because it likes Excel and SPSS which I am familiar to use in my research. So I want to try to use this form in my web. It would be appreciated if you suggest how to edit them in admin area. I am so sorry for bothering again.

    Do you speak Chinese?
Here is a post showing how to use it in SimpChinese:

    Hi,

yes, that’s a nice link that shows how to use the plugin in Chinese. Thanks for sharing that! ๐Ÿ™‚

Otherwise, it’s really simple: In that admin menu, you have the “TablePress” menu, under which you can add/edit/manage all of your tables.

Hi, my tablepress plugin has disappeared from the worldpress installation. I’m trying to reload but get an error that the directory already exist. I could delete the directory but before doing that would like to save the tables I made.

Is this feasible? If so where is the table

Is there another way of resolving this?

    Thanks

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

With “TablePress has disappeared”, do you mean that the entry in the admin menu is no longer there, or that the plugin itself is no longer installed, i.e. it’s no longer visible on the “Plugins” screen of WordPress, and your tables don’t show anymore on the site)?

    Regards,
    Tobias

    HI Tobias,

The plugin has disappeared, when I look at plugins it’s no longer there. The table also has gone from my wwebsite but if I look at the files on the server there is still a table press directory under ..\wp-content\plugins
