  • My question is about reducing duplicate content which I seem to be getting punished for my google, essentially I have 5 websites for 5 different yet similar businesses, one of the sites is the parent company so effectively the top of the tree if that’s how people view it.

Right now we’re writing a blog a week and posting it to each of the 5 sites which would be fine, the content is relevant to them all BUT good ole google see’s this as duplicate content and its hurting our rankings…

I want to use the blog content to help with rankings so I believe I need to have the content local to each site and not just point the blogs on 4 of the sites to a single blog, I also don’t want to take people away from the site they originally visited to read a blog.

What are my options here? Thanks all 🙂

  • Your options are to either:

    1. Create different content for each blog
    2. Use a single blog and link to it from each site

If your going to have a single blog you can always modify the header (or another section on the template) to add in links ot each of the separate sites so that users can see not only where they came form, but the other sites in the network as well.

You could use a single blog and display the blog content in an iframe on each site. Users will see the blog as part of whichever site they are visiting. I would hope that Google will see the blog content at just one URL, but I’m not certain of this.
