• I thought I was going to like this, but a basic feature – recurring event – is only available if you upgrade and purchase. Come on – there are too many other calendars out there that are free.

  • Recurring events are far, far from a basic feature, especially considering how difficult they are to program.

In this product, that’s true. In other products, recurring events are a basic feature. And to users – the ones the products are built for – flagging an event as recurring is a high-priority basic necessity, therefore must be a basic feature in a good calendar.

Programming should not be difficult – it’s a simple math issue. Take this event and repeat it x number of times or repeat it ad infinitum. So far, this is the only calendar I’ve tested that doesn’t offer recurring events either in the entire free package or in the basic package.

If I can’t get a functional calendar up and running quickly, ready to present on my demo site, then I’m not interested in what else the product has to offer in an upgraded version.

I had no difficulty with recurring events. Did you upgrade to the free standard version?

I used the plug-in that was available on Thursday or Friday – version 1.10.2, which seems to be the most recent version. It did not allow for recurring events, but told me I must purchase to upgrade to that feature.

I’m not saying it’s not a highly needed feature, but I’d consider that to be very, very different from a “basic” feature.

And yes, even though the math is simple, a recurring events system is quite difficult to write. I’ve written one and can directly attest to the difficulty of building them.
