• Used this plugin because it was recommended to me by someone else. If it worked it would be great, but unfortunately it had bugs so I disabled it.

That’s when the real nightmare began.

After disabling this plugin it logged me out of my website, and attempts to log back in generated a “too many redirects” error loop. I’ve wasted days trying to fix this problem, troubleshooting all kinds of things, and its still not solved. Google and you will find there are tonnes of people with problems with this plugin, and there is no maintained support forum for it.

  • i was about to install this… but your situation has me hesitating.
are you sure it was this plugin that messed up stuff?
were you able to revert to previous saved state? (using a backup).
    Hope you had luck.

err..okay..will not use this plugin then :/

Sorry for delayed response, yes I am pretty sure it is the ThemeMyLogin that was the issue – google and you will see many with the same problem or check out these posts http://wordpress.org/support/topic/too-many-redirect-loops?replies=29

Basically, the minor bugs in how it works are liveable if you have no other option, but if once you’ve installed it you decide you would like to deactivate or remove it ThemeMyLogin becomes a bit of a cancer bomb. It doesn’t have a clean uninstall, so even after deleting everything you can your website’s login still won’t work..

Yes my site had been backed up and luckily was in testing mode rather than with live customers. In the end I had to back up to a week prior to de-activating TML – because it is the deactivation that causes the biggest headache.

So I am stuck with TML because to remove it is to totally screw my website! Wish I had never installed it. Can’t go back now.

I have stated over and over and over again – once TML is deactivated, it is deactivated. The code isn’t being run! There’s no possible way for it to do anything!

Jeff, is it possible that there is something in the DB that hasn’t been cleaned up properly?

    No.

@jeff I admire your persistence 😉 TML is a great plugin!
