    Hi all,

I am trying to figure out how to put three main widget areas on the home page. I can see how to do that in the footer, but not in the main content area. Is there an easy way to do this that I am missing?

    Thank you!

  • Hi erinrouss,

    what do you mean exactly?

How to get widgets in your sidebars of the main content or in the widget areas at the top of the page (header widgets) ?

Go to Appearance -> Widgets and try out, you will see where widgets popup! 🙂

If you get stuck, let me know what you mean exactly..

I’m looking for the main content of the home page, under the slider but above the footer. I was hoping to put three widget areas there. Does that make sense? I tried using Page Builder in the main page as a workaround, but it doesn’t look the same in terms of dividers and formatting as the footer widgets. I was hoping for three widget areas in that space like the footer has.

    Hi erinrouss,

thats not included in the theme, but you can create a child theme and then code this homepage and register 3 new widgetareas. though, you’ll have to make a big step into code, if you never do this normally.

Otherwise make a static front page and use the page template with 2 sidebars here.

Then you also have 3 columns, just the middle one is bigger and “normal” content..

    Another idea:

the x2 theme is based on Custom Community, but fresher, more beautiful (my opinion) and there’s just a big update released with all bugs fixed!

see the (not finished) demo page with 3 columns widgetized homepage 😉

The x2 theme sounds great! Is it free? I cannot find it when I search the themes within wordpress. Is it available yet?

ah no that one’s not here in the free repo..

oh ok. I think page builder will suffice for now then. Thanks!
