Adjusting logo and menu positions

What code would I have to write in my child theme css to shorten the width of my menu and move down my logo so the two elements will be side by side, like this:

I know how to move the elements along the horisontal axis, but can’t find my way around the code to do as illustrated in the after-example.

I’m a complete noob btw.
