    Hi,

When I upload featured images for product no matter how large or whether it is landscape or portrait, the image is cropped in both the thumbnail view and the main product page.

I have uploaded images up to 3000px and still gets cropped and leaves white space on both sides of the photos. Looks like a frame.

How do I fix this? I’m a novice with code. Please help. Thanks.

  • The WooCommerce plugin crops images for the product pages and category pages you will need to change those dimensions in the WooCommerce settings.

There is a tutorial here on what to do:

I am using the responsive Theme and have the same problem>

Did you change your image sizes inside woocommerce settings?

Did you look at the link?

Yep, that fixed it for me. Thanx.

I have the same problem and adjusted the image size and regenerated the images and it is still chopping at the top of the image.

Deonmeyer, have you turned the virtue cropping off in the theme options shop settings.

I have followed the instructions in the above-mentioned tutorial (http://www.kadencethemes.com/installing-woocommerce-for-virtue-theme/) but I am still experiencing cropping issues.

The tutorial states that the following dimensions should be used:
    Catalog Images – Width: 270 Height: 270
Single Product Image – Width: 468 Height: 468
    Product Thumbnails – Width:90 Height: 90

The actual dimensions for each of these is slightly different when I right click and “inspect element” in IE:
    Catalog Images – Width: 270 Height: 268
Single Product Image – Width: 468 Height: 458
    Product Thumbnails – Width:90 Height: 90

I have been uploading images that are 800px max height or width and the images show up cropped in the catalog view and thumbnail view. I have tried it with “hard cropping” checked and unchecked and I still get the same results.

The only way I can prevent cropping in the catalog view and thumbnail view is to upload images that are no more than 458px max width. This is only working for horizontal images. If I upload a vertical image of 458px it gets blown up on the product page and is still cropped in the catalog view and thumbnail view. If I us a larger image it shows up cropped in every view.

Here is a link to my “shop” page where you can see what is going on.

Should I be able to upload images at any size and still not get cropping?

If you want to use woocommerce image sizing you have to turn off the virtue sizing in the theme options > shop settings.

You also have to regenerate all your thumbnails every time you change the size in the woocommerce settings.
