    Hello there,

We had an update from WPP 2.3.2 to WPP 2.3.5.

Unfortunately, WPP results aren’t functionning properly. We have much lower results than we had before update, with a steady audience. WPP counts with 2.3.5 are a lot lower than our Google Analytics results and WP stats (via Jetpacks) results. They were similar before update.

So my question is : what happened and how can we fix it ? Because we make a living out of our audience (www.rue89strasbourg.com), and the counts published are critical to us. We cannot afford to display such low counts for long. It’s killing us.

Only thing I saw between 2.3.2 and 2.3.5 is a “better use of cache”. We use Varnish and WPP 2.3.2 was functionning fine with it.

Last note : we cannot revert because 2.3.3 was messing with a display of another plugin we use, WP Events Manager.

Any help will be greatly appreciated ! Thank you.

    Hi pif,

The algorithm to calculate views has been pretty much the same since 2.3.2, nothing has been changed there. However, from 2.3.3 and on the plugin no longer uses AJAX as the main method to update the views count to the database – so, if you’re using a caching plugin you need to enable the Ajaxify feature (Settings > WordPress Popular Posts > Tools) so the views count is tracked correctly. You might need to clear Varnish’ cache after that, too.

By the way, the latest version of the plugin is 2.3.7. Why are you guys using 2.3.5?

That’s the key. We didn’t notice WPP had an admin panel now. Sorry for the disturbance.
