I set up the payment as PayPal Standard in Paid Memberships Pro payment gateway.

When an user registers with the Paid Memberships Pro, they click the PayPal button for payment and then they are directed to the PayPal site for the payment. Even if the user doesn’t pay and the user still have/can access to the protected area in the Paid Memberships Pro.

1-)How can I set up new users an inactivate status then I can activate the users who made the payment.
2-)is there any plugin for this or a solution?

    Thanks for your help

  • I’ve got this problem as well.

There must be a fix somehow for it? All a user has to do is go through the signup process on the site, create a username/password, be taken to the Paypal portion,(at this point they are considered Subscribers to the site now without actually paying yet) then simply hit the back button on the browser to go back to your site and they have full access without paying….

I found the way but it is not very good solution if you have lots of members.

I installed a plugin so that no user can activate their account until I activate it by myself.
So that when someone paid then I go back end of site and activate the user. A user cannot access the site without my activation.
But this isn’t the correct way. There must be another way.

This site has a good activation process but not sure what plugins they use.

    Having this problem as well!

    Hi All,

When using PayPal, an account is created for a user before the payment actually goes through, however the account will have no membership level associated with it at this point. Once PayPal reports that the payment was successful, the user’s account is upgraded to the correct membership level.

Here are some things to check:

    1. Is your site locked down for members? Here’s how to do that if you don’t already know: http://www.paidmembershipspro.com/documentation/content-controls/ (requires a free registraton).
    2. Are your IPN settings correct? You’ll want to make sure you’ve added your IPN handler to your PayPal account so PMPro can communicate with PayPal.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank You

    Hi All,

Any updates as far as if you were able to get PMPro to work properly with PayPal?

    Thank You

    Hi All,

I’m going to mark this as resolved since we haven’t heard back in 2 months.

    Thanks
