I want to be able to control the placement of the two sidebars (one in right and another in footer) of Twenty Thirteen.

It’d be the best if I could just select from the admin interface which type of pages I want those sidebars on.

Another thing I’d like is a different type of text widget for the right sidebar that doesn’t have the background color or the margins as all other secondary sidebar widgets. A new widget would do fine (using custom CSS for it) or a ‘transparent check’ would do equally good but I guess that’d be more resource intensive.

Anyway, I’d be really thankful if someone helps me to get these done. I’m not an expert web designer guy, but with your help, I’m open to modifying a great deal of PHP, HTML and CSS if the tasks require it.

I’m using a blue child theme for Twenty Thirteen by Joen, just in case.

  • Your best option is to use a plugin for that – here’s one I use all the time and highly recommend: http://wordpress.org/plugins/content-aware-sidebars/ – create as many sidebars as you want and then allocate on per post/page and/or replace a specific sidebar on a specific page/post.

Not sure about the text widget but there are few in the repository – do a quick search and you shall find 🙂

Thanks a lot, Zulfikar. That plugin is just what I needed. 🙂

I’m searching for transparent text widgets at the moment.
