Update to v2 was a mistake

Love the plugin, use it on many sites – but v2 was a mistake, so many issues and warn my clients do not update, because you are at risk of losing your galleries and pictures. Even a fresh install of WP with the new plugin – doesn’t even work, sure you can create galleries and upload pics, but then you’ll see… wait where are my pics, I just uploaded them. Not cool, even the uploader fails. I’m looking for an alternative.
