cannot update field

    hi all
    i created a custom field, it’s been used for a long time now on my website. I wanted to edit the field, to add some help text, I tried many solutions :
    TEXT metaname {Label[:help message]}
    TEXT metaname {Label:help message}

    everytime i hit the “save” button, the page does not answer, taking forever to load back, but it never does. The change is not taken.
    So i even went inside the database with phpmyadmin, and edited myself the text to add the help message
    but when i reload the Extra User Fields Settings page, it does not appear. And the user form does not take this change in count.
    I’s not a cache problem, because my website does not have cache settings.
    What am i doing wrong ?
