• Hello and thanks for the help in advance.

I designed websites in the past for freinds, but now I want to put my own site plus use wordpress with it.

What I want to know is this possible with the software:
-I will have a main site called example http://www.homehomes.com

-then there will be subdomains such as ny.homehomes.com and boston.homeshomes.com

    – i want to create home pages for each of the subdomains with links concerning that sub domain going back to my wordpress blog about the homes in those cities.

-every city will have its own subdomain home page that will go back to a catergory in the main blog

Could someone tell me if the software could handle or even do something like this?

Thank you for your time !

just to avoid any confusion i do not own the real domain of homehomes com. I may have just helped them with their linking building by mistake. 🙂

couple questions.. is ny.homeshomes.com goign to be populated by WordPress generated content? or is that going to be stand alone content that you have created with something else?

I have never attempted to do any rewrite stuff with wordpress, that would result in permalinks like that, ie

    ny.homeshomes.com/this-house/

where ny might be the category, and this_post is the slug.

It will have some wp content related to each page.
    For example:
ny.homehomes.com, the sub domain of homehomes.com, will have links to any of my blogs concerning homes in NY. The same page will contain video of homes in NY. I will be designing home or land pages for each of the subdomains.

I’m basically trying to put links on subdomain pages that I will desgin that will lead the reader back to the home blog via the catergory related to that page.
    An example

-user visits ny.homehomes.com which is the subdomain of homeshome.com
-user clicks on new post concerning blog about property taxes in NY on the subdomian page
-link leads to the post on the main blog whcih is also the catergory for house in NY

I just want to know if this is possible with this software. Just creating a basic html/php home page and supply links that go back to caterogies at the main domain site.

    I hope that made sense

    thanks!

It will have some wp content related to each page.

That isnt what I asked, and thats integral to the answer.

I asked if that content would be generated by WordPress., ie if you are going to be using WordPress to make that content, either via a page or a post.

Im asking because IF thats the case, than you **may** need to rely on WP rewriting the urls. Whereas if youre providing that content outside of your WordPress install, it’s trivial to do the rewrites inside your .htaccess.

    actually, here:

    http://www.gregboser.com/wordpress-subdomain-plugin/

that will do exactly what you are describing, so the answer is yes.

I think you just answered my question. My goal is to basically have wp re-write the urls for me and I will update the rest of the content on the page that is in the form of videos of different areas. Thanks for the help whooami.

youre very welcome, good luck 🙂

Plugin is unsupported…. and it doesn’t work with 2.3.x

This one claims to work with 2.3.x:
    http://florincostache.name/subster-rejunevation.phps

Found it in the comments of here:
    http://www.biggnuts.com/wordpress-subdomains-plugin/

    Not even works with 2.2

What about WordPressMU? It does this by default. Each subdomain will be its own blog.
