Support » Plugin: JW Player for Flash & HTML5 Video » Manually upgrading to JWPlayer Commercial Version 5

  • Annoyingly JWPlayer have been less than helpful with the 2.11 version of the module and removed the upgrade process for inserting a commercial version 5 on your site.

So, to help those who do need do this here’s a quick guide:

    1. Open your site via FTP
    2. Navigate to: /wp-content/uploads/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/player/
    3. rename the two files already there to jwplayer.js-old, etc…
    4. upload the jwplayer.js and player.swf files to replace them
    5. Job done!

If you’re using multi-site you’ll find the correct folder for your other sites under:
    /wp-content/uploads/sites/[siterefnumber]/jw-player-plugin-for-wordpress/

Not particularly impressed that the original functionality was removed and it smacks of “encouraging” people to upgrade but at least you now have the information to sort this manually.

    Hope it helps folks…
