Cannot log in. Error: Warning: require_once() [function.require-once]:

    The site’s theme has been damaged. Try switching to the default theme by renaming:

    wp-content/themes/pagelines

    to:

    wp-content/themes/pagelines-old

    using FTP or whatever file management application the host provides.

    I’m not familiar with FTP however I can locate the pagelines folder in the cPanel. Are you telling me to rename that folder to pagelines-old?

    If so, what is going to happen to the live website? Will the current (damaged) theme disappear?

    If so, how would I get it back? Or can I ‘fix’ it somehow?

    Yes. This should automatically activate the default WordPress theme and allow you back into the back end of the site.

    Thanks, however since I did not add the original theme on to the site I won’t be able to change it back straight away will I?

    Will I need to contact the people who created or bought the theme and ask them to reinstall it after I change it to the default theme, or is there some way that I can change it back to the current theme straight away?

    Yes. Do not try to re-activate the old theme in its current state.

    Thanks for your help esmi. This is all done now. For anybody looking for a solution to this problem in the future, I did as esmi said above by logging into cPanel, finding the theme folder ‘pagelines’ and renaming it pagelines-old. There was also a pagelines-child folder I had to rename as ‘pagelines-child-old’. I then was able to log in to WordPress and reinstate the old pagelines theme as per normal under the ‘appearance’ area.

    I have similar issue exactly same as imagerack. Trying to helping out a friend. Does pagelines means the name of theme? I have rttheme running on the website. Even i renamed it but problem persists. Also website does not get to old default theme even though the default theme is in the folder. Kindly suggest..

    Continued… Below is the error that I am getting when logging in

    Issue resolved. I copied wp-admin folder from my localhost to server and overwritten all the files and now Dashboard is opening.
