Looking for video player for self-hosting vids

I either keep my own videos on my host server or usually Amazon S3. These are quicktime h264 mp4 – usually 1280 x 720px.

How do get the video to play in a better skin or player – the current controls for the video protrude past the actual video and so create a border either side when it plays.

When I use a video plugin I still get my old controls.
