• Lately, whenever any user fails to login correctly or they get pointed to a 404 my entire site goes down. Not just the backend, the whole site. For 15 minutes my users see the very descriptive ‘error’ message on a blank screen. I’m not exactly sure how to fix this. I’ve scanned the forums and seen some very technical and specific responses to specific conditions that don’t match my situation. It’s not sustainable to have my site down all the time because someone forgot their password.

    What error message?

    It says only this:

    error

I’m not kidding. That’s the only word on the blank page. It stays this way for the duration of the lockout period (15 minutes).

Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Your hosts should be able to help you in accessing your site’s error logs.
