• I have a problem with category links and permalinks. When I attempt to navigate to a category link on my site, I get a Page Not Found error. However, all other links to posts and pages work fine.

Interestingly, I have found that I also cannot change the permalinks setting to anything other than default. For some reason, when I select another permalink setting, it resets to the default setting when the page reloads. It even reports that my update to the permalink structure was successful. None of the links on the site convert to clean URLs.

I really don’t care about using clean URLs in this case. I just need the category links to work properly.

    Any ideas?

Site is http://nccproduction.com. Upgraded to 2.3.2.

  • Actually, this http://www.nccproduction.com/?cat=1 works.
All your other categories are somehow events related, so I am afraid because of a plugin setting or because of being seen as not “normal” categtories but events handled but something else than WP’s own category system… they are just not displayed in the traditional category view, only in “events view”.

Thanks moshu. Looking at the construction of the URL with the events plugin, it looks like a date value needs to be passed along with the category id. So I created a test URL using the year as the date variable and it worked.

    http://www.nccproduction.com/?m=2008&cat=4

So now I’ll add some simple PHP in there to handle adding the date for the current year. In our case, we don’t really need to go back to other years, but if we did that would probably be a simple fix.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
