  • I want to have a single child theme for a wordpress multisite. But each of the sites should have different designs for all or most types of pages (the index, post, page, category, archive etc). I am just about one or two months into wordpress and am not even a programmer.
One of the solutions that I liked is to have different template files and then a piece of code which tells wordpress to switch the files based on the site ids.

For example if site id is 3, then use index3.php as default instead of index.php, page3.php for pages and post3.php for posts as default..etc

This idea allows for flexibility of combining page designs for different sites with certain components being similar.

For example, sites 5 and 6 will only differ in the way posts are presented.

Can someone give an example of the code and where to include it (which file exactly)?
