There are some things I did not understand.
1- Last year’s site is currently running, this one has to be moved in a subdir.
How can I obtain the new site?
A- Simply repeat step 1, change the layout as I like and use some redirection to point the domain to this 2013 folder?
B- Copy last year’s site, then change the look of the original root installation and put somewhere a link to the 2012 version?

This is a little complicated. First you’ll need to figure out how to design your 2013 site to work under the subdomain, possibly using Categories and a plugin like this: http://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-subdomains-revisited/ Then, after that is set up, follow the instructions in WPYogi’s link to change the htaccess to point the main site to the subdomain. The existing 2012 site would also need changes so that it could be accessed under the subdomain.
Or, you could possibly use Multisite (or multiple WP installs) so that each year’s festival is more easily separated and managed. That would likely be easier if your host supports it.
I’ve looked around and I think that going Multisite is an option, seems not so complicated to switch my single install to MS and then create the new websites.
Also, multiple installs could be a solution, but maybe not so easy to manage. Do I need a DB for each install or can I simply change the tables prefix?
