Hello, last week and transferred my domain MyLincolnChiro.com from namecheap to fatcow.com. The transfer is fully complete, but when I do the quick install for WordPress through Fatcow I cannot access my website or admin panel. The only page that comes up is the “404. That’s an error.
The requested URL /wp-admin was not found on this server. That’s all we know”.

I have googled and read many of the fixes, but none seem to apply. My wp-admin is not installed in a subdirectory.

Last week I also set up a WordPress site successfully doing the same method as this one, but on a different laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

  • I’m assuming that you transferred your site as well as the domain name. You are still using Namecheap’s nameservers. You will need to update your nameservers from the Fatcow domain manager. Your welcome email from Fatcow should have the correct nameservers listed.

There is nothing in your site to indicate that WordPress has been installed. Where did you install it? At the root or in a sub-directory? Have you contacted your hosting support for resolving the issue?

@krishna – You won’t see anything since the nameservers are pointing to the wrong server.

@CedarPoint – I am starting from scratch and only wanted to domain name transferred, so I could start a new WordPress site. Plus I only had a domain name with namecheap and no website capabilities.

Edit: just looking at the nameservers it showed the default as something else. So I now switched it to

    Nameserver 1
    ns1.fatcow.com
    Nameserver 2
    ns2.fatcow.com

    should that do the trick?

Looks like the above did the trick! Thanks for the quick help!
