Thanks for reporting this error. 1.6 introduced a new way to control access to your resources which required a new field in the database. For users who upgraded from an earlier version this new field was added to their database. For new installations this new field was not being created causing new content creation to fail.
Upgrading to 1.6.1 will fix this for you…
Sorry for the bug! I’m very glad you like the plugin!
Chris
Thanks Chris. I now have a different problem. I can now link a resource tile to a book and it show in the Icafe manager, but when I run the plugin in the site and click on the book, the resource tiles do not show up. It simply displays a link “Back to Library” (Library is the name of my page where the Icafe short code resides.)
Are you running 1.6.2? There were a few more bugs related to access control that I needed to correct. 1.6 was a major change that gave users very granular control over who had the ability to access content but I had a few minor bugs in the code that made public books and tiles not load correctly. Give it a shot on 1.6.2…PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF IT’S STILL AN ISSUE!
Yes. I upgraded to 1.6.2 and that fixed my problem of not being able to link a resource tile to a book. But I now have the issue with the resources not showing after clicking the book on the page that has the shortcode. NOTE: I even tried unistalling ICAFE and then reinstalling. Still same issue. Thanks – Kevin
Ahh…now I understand. It’s not a bug…its operating correctly. The problem is that you can add a resource tile to a top level container (book) but it’s not designed to display them without some level of organization within the book (chapters and sections). I need to find a way to stop the ability of adding resources to books without chapters or sections but I haven’t cracked that yet 🙂
Just create some more containers and drag them into (and slightly to the right) of your Book. Chapter are the first level and you could create additional levels called sections if you wanted…but chapters (at least one) are required.
Sorry for the confusion…in version 1 all my efforts were in the front in visuals and navigation that users see…the back end administration is a bit difficult. I have version 2 in my head…just need more time!
Please let me know if that solves your issue.
Chris
Thank You. That was it.
I made the erroneous assumption that my problem was related to the previous one that 1.6.2 upgrade solved or I would have researched my issue a little better before posting – sorry.
Very nice pluggin. I do a lot of pro bono stuff for non profits. Once I have a paying project that I use ICafe Libary, then I will be sure to pass on a little donation of appreciation for your work. Thanks again – Kevin
I am using the 1.62 version of ICafe. When I try to set up a new tile, the tile is not showing up as a choice to add to a book. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
Jim
Following the instructions from Chris, the plugin author, the plugin is not designed to display tiles without some level of organization within the book (chapters and sections). In other words, just create some more containers and drag them into (and slightly to the right) of your Book. Chapter are the first level and you could create additional levels called sections if you wanted…but chapters (at least one) are required. This worked for me. Once I created a chapter a level below my book and assigned a tile to it, all worked fine. – Kevin
Hi Kevin,
Thank you for the response. I do have a book established as well as two chapters. I can move the tiles over to the chapter, but for some reason when I leave the page, the tiles are not staying in the section. I appreciate any thoughts you might have on this situation? Thank you again.
Jim
Jim, I’d love to help you get it sorted out.
As I understand your issue, you have created a book and two chapter inside the book (they should only show in the tree when you click the plus sign on the book…otherwise they are not really “in” the book yet).
You can click “Add Resource Tiles” on a chapter and move the tiles over from the “Available Tiles” list into the “Resources For (the chapter name should be here)” list but they don’t stay?
