latest update (1.4.9) kills pages

the latest update today, 1.4.9, kills pages: the sidebar and footer do not load, and it destroys stats to jetpack.

after reverting to 1.4.7 – all back to normal.

something in the header w/latest update is messing up all php for the rest of the page, in my theme!
