• New version of Wordtwit does not appear to tweet automatic posts. Using FeedWordPress, I collect posts from XML feeds periodically and post them automatically to WordPress. The old version of Wordtwit tweeted these posts beautifully, but the new version does not.

I have enabled the advanced option “Tweet automatically when content is generated by other plugins…” – no help.

When you look at the post, the Wordtwit window says the post was tweeted, but it wasn’t.

Please help or advise what I’m doing wrong. Thx.

    Hi,

To stay in compliance with Twitter’s terms, each post tweeted by WordTwit requires some sort of user interaction, meaning it won’t post tweets automatically in batch, etc.

The option to tweet posts generated by other plugins is for setups where a third-party application is used to publish (individual tweets), like Mars Edit for example.

I’m sorry, but I’m having trouble understanding your answer.

Given what you said above, I don’t understand why the option “Tweet automatically when content is generated by other plugins…” even exists. Does the code have a list of plugins it will play nice with and ones that it won’t?

That issue aside, the fact remains that the Wordtwit window on each post in question says that Wordtwit tweeted it, when in fact it didn’t. I would call this a bug.

    Also experiencing this issue.

Upgraded to latest version on Thursday. Automatic tweets worked for about a day.

Currently widget says “1 Tweeted”, while Publish Status in Tweet Log reports “Failed”.
Happening for both Manually posted and Scheduled posts.

Just upgraded to find publish Status in Tweet Log reports “Failed” πŸ™

    Resolved πŸ™‚
I think I authorised/added my twitter account from wp-admin/admin.php?page=wordtwit_account_configuration before setting the API to permit Read AND write, so try removing and re-authorising if you have this issue – it will save you hours πŸ™‚

Thanks Tom and the plugin author. I think your resolutions should be prominently displayed in the plugin installation instructions, especially for non-developers:

    1. During setup, add your website home page url to the Callback URL, or on the Settings tab if its forgotten in setup. And …

    2. After setup is complete, go to the Settings tab and change the Application Type from Read Only to Read and Write.

Now WordTwit publishes to my Twitter account.

    Thanks!

I followed all the suggestions above, but all my tweets simply say “Failed”. Status in the log is Failed as well. No explanation, just Failed. Not helpful.

@dicknet , @atdblog missed one step – you need to reauthentic by removing and re-adding your account after setting up the twitter api read/write permissions

@tom, I noticed that in your earlier message, so had already done that. Didn’t seem to help in this case.

    @dicknet sorry to hear that

@dicknet Hey, do you know see it happening for posts that are scheduled to be published or for manually published posts?

The option is to have WordTwit tweet posts that are added using other plugins/applications like Mars Edit – http://www.red-sweater.com/marsedit/

It will not publish tweets generated from post scrapers and such, there always needs to be a user action in publishing the post for the post to be tweeted by WordTwit.

It seems to also post as new tweets when you update a post using another application too. The old version didn’t do that πŸ™ Is there some trick I’m missing to only post tweets for new posts, not edits?

I’m having the same issues mentioned above: Tweets shows as tweeted yet log shows Failed, when I attempt to tweet it manually, it fails as well.
In my case, posts are published by subscribers, I tried all the gibberish of Deauth/Reauth, Deact/React to no avail, is this goodbye?

What application are you using to edit posts?

You can try disabling the option to automatically tweet posts that are from third-party applications.

Tweets shows as tweeted yet log shows Failed, when I attempt to tweet it manually, it fails as well.

Try resetting your custom Twitter app’s keys and then add the new keys and reconfigure them in WordTwit. Note that you will need to re-add the Twitter account as normal.
