• I am very new to Word Press. in fact am a bit intimidated by it. About a year ago a friend set up a page for me. Several months ago I started editing it and put a password protect plug in so that no one could see the page. I can not remember the password. I also now can’t access the admin page t change anything. What do I do? Start all over again? My domain name is registered with Domain.com.

    any suggestions?

  • If it is a plugin, then you should be able to access your WP install via FTP. Navigate to the /plugins folder and find the password protect plugin. Delete that folder and the plugin should disable itself. You should be able to login normally after that. If you have forgotten your WP password, the login panel has a Forgot Password? link you can use, provided you still have the same email address as you did when your blog was first set up.

    Hi Joni

I can’t even get to a log in panel, much less be able to navigate to my plug ins page.

    More help please.

Try reading the suggestions posted above.

unfortunately, I can’t get to a page to try those suggestions

You don’t need access to your dashboard – you DO need to have FTP (or other file manager access) to your site files on the server. If you don’t have that set up, ask your hosting company for the information you need and see:

None of the suggestions require you to login to your WordPress site.
