    Hi,

    thanks for your question.

Unfortunately, I have bad news here: Connecting TablePress to custom SQL databases/tables is not possible. TablePress can only use its own storage as a “Custom Post Type” in the WordPress database.

To use data in your own DB, you’ll need to develop a custom solution, as a custom plugin that queries the DB with PHP.
If you want, you can then manually add the sorting, etc. functions by integrating the DataTables JS library from http://www.datatables.net.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Is there any possibility of a future extension to get this kind of thing done?

    Hi,

no, sorry, I do not have such plans, as this is a very special requirement that not many users of TablePress would ever need.

I have recently found a commercial WordPress plugin that can be used to access databases: http://themes.karaliki.ru/wpdatatables/
I have no affiliation or experience with that, and I don’t know if MSSQL tables work, but maybe it’s helpful.

    Regards,
    Tobias
