• I’m trying to show a landing page while I build my site. No matter which landing page plugin I use, it’s not showing and my website instead shows up. I log out of my WP panel, clear the cache and cookies and I’m still unable to see the landing page. Tried a different browser and was the same thing. Please help.

  • What if you define a page as the front page instead of using a landing page plugin?

It’s also possible your hosting server cache, if it uses caching servers like Varnish.

You mean create a landing page on the theme instead of a plugin? I figured a plugin was the easier way to do, since I can keep working on my site in the mean while.

How do I find out what server cache my host uses?

If you only want to display a message on the page, yes the front page will do.

It’s eaiser to ask your host support about the cache 🙂

Yes but I still need to work on the site including the front page. I can’t do this if I’m using the front page for the “coming soon” page.

Usually what we do is create a subdomain like:

    dev.yourdomain.com

work everything there, then move the site back to the production site once it’s done.

You can migrate/clone sites using a plugin like

Thanks. I still would like to know what’s up with my landing page though. It actually seems to be working, but it’s responding very slowly. I made changes to it hours ago but it’s still not reflecting.

Have you asked the host about the server cache?

I’ll try again. The thing is any other change I make on the site is immediately reflected.

I see, that would also depend on the caching, because only certain files might be cached. If the plugins you are using are javascript based, maybe they are cached (just guessing).

I don’t understand what I need to ask the support and it’s not going anywhere. I’ve used several landing page plugins and it was all the same thing with what was probably a very slow response. At the moment I’m using The Ultimate Coming Soon Page plugin. I have no idea if this is javascript or not. If it’s being cached on the server, what needs to be corrected? I’m guessing this has nothing to do with caching plugin on WP.. I’m not using any right now.
