@bcrose,
Welcome to WordPress!!
The best way to test is to use the Preview Email button in Subscribe2->Settings under the Template tab. That will give you an idea of what the emails will look like and ensure that mailing on your webserver is (at least in theory) possible.
If you write a post and specifically don’t want an email for that post check the box in the “Subscribe2 Notification Override” meta box further down the authoring page to suppress the email.
Updated posts don’t generate email notifications, this only happens when a post is transitioned from one state (i.e. draft) to ‘published’.
HTML email notifications include links to images back on your server. Again, if you are using Subscribe2 in per-post mode you’ll be able to see this in the preview emails as Registered Subscribers can opt to receive HTML emails. Full content HTML emails are the default for Public Subscribers in the paid version instead of plain text excerpts.

Well thank you very much for the detailed answers.
So to clarify, even if I created short code to include an image in the free version the Public subscribers would not be able to enable HTML ? Or it would be off by default?
I am going to buy the HTML version … I just read more info on this and I believe I understand how this is set up to work. Thanks for the great plug-in.
@bcrose,
You seem to be on the right track, Public Subscribers only get plain text emails in the free version of the code – that means no images. HTML version allows HTML in the email so it can link back to the original images on your site.

Ok, Got the html version installed and working properly.
I cannot figure out how to view the post I want to send out before I send it…
I would like to view what the email is going to look like before I send it out.
Thanks
@bcrose,
There is no live preview at the time of writing a post but you can get an idea what emails might look like in the Templates tab of Subscribe2->Setting by clicking the Send Preview button.
