• i have a WordPress site and it is 18 months old and i have just added thee www. to the front of the site as it was annoying me whne trying to add links to the site i was always having to add the www manually. BUT will this effect my rankings, when i look on the chrome ranking tool i can see two versons of my site ranking now one with the www one without. i am now worried i am going to lose ranking i have gained.

Is there anything i should be doing to sort this out

  • Not really. Your site will automatically 301 redirect to the right URL, you just need to let Google catch up. Make sure you’re submitting your sitemap for the newer URLs. Since the 301 redirect is in place, eventually most of your SEO power of the old URLs SHOULD transfer, but don’t be surprised if you have some slight drop in rankings. Just make sure that you consistently update the content on your site now.

Look for a tab where you can enter your alternate URL (with www) in your Webmaster tools account. Also look for crawl errors and links not found in that account.
