• For reasons best known to itself, I cannot convince my WP installation to use a specified page for the front page when I set it through Options > Reading.

No matter which page I pick, it just displays the latest posts. And if I pick a static page and change the “Show at most: X posts” it will dutifully update the number of posts showing on the front page, but without applying the static page. I’ve even looked (but not touched) in phpMyAdmin and the static front page entries in the wp_options table is being updated, so I’m not sure why it’s no longer working.

I desperately need my old front page (slug: home, id:25) back – please help!

  • You wouldn’t have any plugin or customization in your theme that is causing that problem?

Change to the WordPress Default 1.6 theme and see what happens.
