• Localized Comment Avatar Plugin

I got this to install, and it works quite well. However, there seem to be some things associated with it that I just can’t figure out:

1.) If you set LCA to require a user’s web page, the user MUST type “http://” before their site’s URL or it won’t work correctly. Most of my commenters do not add the “http://”, and so there avatar does not display at all.

2.) Adding the “Add Avatar” upload box beneath the comments themselves causes an inability to upload the avatar without posting. Even after filling in the comment box with something, the avatar still does not upload correctly.

3.) Because of the issue above, I added the “Add Avatar” upload box as a widget on the side of my blog, but I don’t think that it looks very good there. And WP does not allow the execution of PHP from within a post. I installed a PHP plugin that DOES allow this to happen, but the avatar upload feature does not work, even though it displays correctly. (I used RunPHP and logged in as an admin. Still didn’t work, though the avatar uploading DOES work if I make it a widget. Weird.)

4.) The “Thank you for uploading your avatar” message does not display upon the successful upload of an image. As I mentioned, I was able to successfully upload avatars if I added the upload box into my sidebar, but I never saw the confirmation message. I’ve seen some web sites that placed the PHP upload code on a separate page altogether, but I don’t know how to accomplish this successfully.

This really is the best solution out there for me, as I do not want people to have to register in order to comment and for avatars to appear. I like the fact that anonymous people can post based solely on their username. But this seems to have a LOT of bugs, and there is little to no documentation on this plugin.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
