Can a Woocommerce Website Sustain with Huge Traffic Load

    I am building a website with Woocommerce for a client who is expecting huge traffic with more than 1000 log-ins in one hour duration (between 4:30 to 5:30 pm) everyday and expecting it to reach 5000 log-ins per hour. I want to know about the following.

    1. Can a WordPress website with Woocommerce tolerate this huge rush of traffic with member log-ins.
    2. What type of hosting we need to go with.

    Yes, the software can cope, the only problem you have is can your hosting handle it.

    If you are consistently receiving large amounts of traffic you should consider purchasing dedicated server hosting or a good VPS.

    I would also suggest you find a host in a country where the majority of your traffic is coming from.

    Typically, a Web server itself ( Apache, nGinx, Lightspeed, even that dreaded IIS thing ) can server flat files such as plain HTML, CSS, Javascript, and images at blistering fast speed.

    But WP / WooCommerce needs a database involved in the mix. And in most cases, sites respond slow because the database server is slow. So make sure you’re using a fast one.

    We have decided to go for VPS. We are considering DreamHost, but almost all our traffic would come from India. Hostgator has their Indian servers. If Hostgater is okay, please let me which plan would best for us.

    Doesn’t matter which since both have about the same reputation as hosting companies. Again, I will stress that the DB server is the most important aspect so make sure it has plenty of resources available. If global distribution is an issue for you, consider using a CDN network such as Cloudflare to cache your stuff for global distribution.
