  • (I put an & # 8 2 1 1 ; in the subject and it turned into the hyphen 🙂

Could there be a more general “down-convert character entities to simple character substitutes” for the entire string?

    I had an excerpt:
First trailer for Ender’s Game due out May 7th – shut up and take my money!

    and the tweet appeared as:
First trailer for Ender’s Game due out May 7th & # 8211 ; shut up and take my money!
(spaces added by me to keep this forum from displaying as a hyphen 🙂

I understand that’s not easy. I’m not sure what Twitter wants; UTF-8 character encoding maybe? Perhaps there’s a [relatively] easy way to convert encoded chars into their UTF-8 character?
