I really like this captcha, but it does not stop comments. I am using WordPress by itself (no bbpress or any other such login required plugin).

It seems to be working for the other areas (login, register, forgot password), but article comments come straight through. Since enabling this plugin last night I had to delete a ton of spam.

Anyone else having this issue? It is (still) enabled for the moment, but I have an additional captcha turned on as well.

Hello again Keith Parker, I will do a simple copy + paste from the message I sent you on the emotionloop support platform.

in a nutshell you could say that the issue here is the free template you are using: It is missing an important wordpress hook on the comments section. This missing hook is widely use to display other captchas and extra input types.

    “Hi Keith Parker,
first of all thank you for your interest in visualCaptcha and second thank you for your contact.

You are using a template that does not include a reference to the hook where visualCaptcha is displayed.
The ideal solution in this case would be to edit the template / theme and insert the a line of code. But we can try a different solution ( one that doesn’t involve coding ).

Please go to the wp-admin visualCaptcha page and scroll to the bottom. You find find there a form: “Add custom options”. please fill that form with the following information:
[Name for the “Add visualCaptcha to:” List] –> Abelia comments
    [Display Hook] –> comment_form
    [Validation Hook] –> preprocess_comment

I think will do the trick 🙂 but if not we will help you changing the template / theme of your site.

    best regards
    Miguel Costa”

Wow. Miguel, thank you! Not only was that fast, you were 100% accurate. VisualCaptcha is now working across the site as it was intended. Now I need to watch and see how it performs.

I also did not know how much of a roll the template played with plugins, such as this one. The ‘free’ template I am currently using is showing it’s age and it is no longer being maintained. I’ve been looking but have yet to find a new template that I like as much as Abelia. Seems now I have yet more reason to update to a different theme.

A top notch plugin with superb support equals something worthy of donation. I am in the middle of relocating, however that should give me enough time to test it out.

    Sincere Thanks,
    Keith
