Is there a benefit to keeping a url with a 14 year history? We would like to change to a new url but have been satisfied with our search engine ranking on the old url.

The benifit is that your old URL is 14 years old, so Google takes that as having alot more “authority” then a brand new URL. You can change to the new URL, but it will take another 14 years to build up the same in the new URL.

If you want to use the new URl it’s probably the best idea to have that as a “parked domain” (from cPanel’s definition) so that if people hit the new URL they’ll still see the existing site.
