Is there another way of adding images to a gallery apart from uploading from my computer. Many of the images I want to use in a gallery I already have in my wordpress media section. When I upload images from my computer that I already have in the media section, it creates duplicates of the images.

As I am using different images on different pages I don’t want to delete any of the duplicates as I’m not sure where they are being used.

    Thanks

    Ben

  • I’m guessing you hit the Red Button that says “Upload Media”. At least that’s what happened when I hit that button. Up at the top of the page there’s a button that says “Add Media” and you have the option of getting that media from your Media Library.

The way I cleaned up my library was by comparing the time added.

Hope my experience helps, I came here trying to figure out why I’ve got each image twice in my galleries. I’m in the same boat as you – I’m just trying to make it work for me.

Thanks sjmcdonald for your response. I tried the “Add Media” button but this only seems to allow me to insert images into the body field of the gallery, or set a featured image. I want to be able to add images to the images section of the gallery post.

The gallery post was a custom content type created by the gallery plug in I’m using. You can see a screenshot of it here.
