    Please help!
    I’m in panic mode.

I have a wordpress site that was working fine. Somewhere along the way whether it was a plugin or some help I got from my webhost but somewhere it is broke in a bad way.

    The link resides here:

    http://www.johnjdycus.com

On the front end the line 18 in the category file that is coming up in the error is just a script to pull up the categories. I haven’t looked at the other files yet. and the errors that are popping up when I try to go the admin.

I do have a backup from the plugin backup to dropbox but who knows if the broken files have been backed up.

Is it time to rebuild it?? I hope there is a simpler solution.

If I try to uninstall from the webhost (start logic) It says it can’t sync with the server.. wow I have a mess..

    Thank you in advance
    Cheri

A site check shows errors in your installation. Try manual install of WordPress.

NOTE: backup your site first so that you can always reinstall what you have now.

Perhaps there is something that harm you website.

Download the WordPress, and override the own files, except the wp-config.php

    Hi Cheri,

Don’t panic. Work slowly, and carefully. Don’t make any changes.
First let’s focus on fixing the problem.

    In short:

    1. Connect to your site using FTP.
    2. go to ../wp-content/plugins
    3. change the name of each plugin by clicking it, then pressing <F2> and e.g. putting a ‘0’ in front of the name
    4. Browser: Check if your site is accessible again
    5. If so – ONE BY ONE – restore the names of the plugins.
    6. CHECK after each change if the problem re-occurs. If so, you’ve found the ‘problem-plugin’.
    7. Delete the ‘offender’ and look for an alternative plugin.

How to FTP… [*approximate translation*, I don’t have a US version]

    1. Download and install Filezilla
      http://filezilla-project.org/download.php
    2. In filezilla:

    3. file> sitemanagement*
    4. button: new site
    5. enter a name for the new site
    6. click new site
    7. enter the settings you received from your webhost:
Host: the url where hosting takes place
      EXAMPLE: server22.mywebhost.com
    8. Protocol: FTP- File Transfer Protocol
    9. Encryption: Use normal FTP*
    10. Inlogtype: Normal
    11. User: FTPusername as given by the webhost
    12. FTPpassword as given by the webhost
    13. Click connect

When you entered all data correctly, a FTP-connection is made.
On the right of the screen the files and folders of your site appear; on the LEFT the files and folder of your PC.

    • Click the RIGHT screen [site] and edit as suggested above</il>

ALWAYS Make a backup of your site, before making any changes!!

    1. Use FTP to backup the files.
    2. Make sure to also backup your database.
