Hi, I am not able to locate the Excerpt field for posts.

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Excerpt says:
“To add an excerpt to a post, simply write one in the Excerpt field under the post edit box.”

Here is a link to a screenshot of what I see as my post edit box. I guess the Excerpt field is there, but I cannot see it. I marked the screenshot with text indicating where I am looking.

Any assistance would be extremely much appreciated.

There will be – on that screen click the screen options tab – top right – then you’ll see a checkbox to display the AWOL box!

Note: As of WordPress version 3.1, some screen options on the Post & Page edit Administration Panels are hidden by default. The Excerpt field is hidden by default if it has not been used before.

    yay!

    Thank you!

That will answer a lot of questions, with all those fields in there to choose from among all those screen options!
