When I try to update my plugins, I get taken to a 404 page on my site instead. Can anyone help me solve this, thanks.

  • Do you find anything unusual when you log out and then if you login? Can you try it now?

No, but I did update my page a couple of weeks ago, and then I got a page that said something about maintenance being performed. I looked up information on wordpress on how to delete the .maintenance file from my wp-admin folder and the problem started after that. I may have deleted something by mistake, not sure.

    Thanks

    Site URL?

    It’s chhc.co

    Thanks

    Hmm.
.maintenance file is generated on-fly when auto-update fails.
There is no harm to delete it, you just took off a warning message.

If I were you, I would try

    -Dashboard -Updates – Re-install now (3.5.1)

If it fails, download the package and re-install manually.

Backup everything, including database, before doing re-install

Can you login to your site and try to deactivate all plugins?

    Hi guys,

Thanks for all the help. I deleted the wrong files, the update-core.php and update.php files when I was attempting to delete the .maintenance file. I added those files back and now all is normal again. thanks
