I tried posting this on the theme-specific forum but haven’t gotten any replies — I’m trying to turn off commenting using WordPress 3.5.1 and Pure Line 1.20.

When I use the Discussion Settings option and un-check the option “allow people to post comments on new articles”, I see no change.

Is that the right way to turn off commenting? Is there a right way to turn off commenting?

(These settings may be overridden for individual articles.)

If the pages getting comments were made prior to your un-checking “Allow Comments”, maybe you need to un-check that at the editor for each page.

Yeah, thanks — I was thinking it must be something like that, but the thing is I don’t see an option in the page editor to allow/disallow comments 🙁

At the top right corner of your screen (for pages and then again for posts), click on screen options – make sure comments is unclicked and discussion is clicked.

Then on each post or page screen, you’ll have a discussions box – you can control the comments appearing or not there.

You can also use the “Quick Edit” to see the comments clickbox for each post or page.
